Fragrant, delicate orchids. Bold greenery and sweet-smelling citrus trees. Stunning roses in a rainbow of hues. These sights and scents are all part of the daily offerings at Longwood Gardens, an awe-inspiring botanical garden in Kennett Square. And for the Fireworks and Fountains Shows at Longwood Gardens, the beautiful green space adds another attraction.

On various weekends from now through September, the gardens' fountains glow to life with special lighting effects set to different popular tunes, backed by fireworks flashing across the night sky. The Star Spangled Spectacular celebrates Independence Day a bit early on July 2nd with a mash-up of The Olympic Fanfare, The Stars & Stripes, and other patriotic tunes. A Night at the Movies on July 22nd features scores from famously well-composed film soundtracks, like ET The Extraterrestrial and the James Bond films. Buy lawn tickets or reserved seats for the shows and arrive before the designated starting time (typically 8:15 or 9:15 p.m.) to be ready for the display.
