To celebrate their famous vegetable, the town holds an annual mushroom festival the first weekend after labor day. Do not fear if you are not a mushroom fan, there is plenty of other food and fun activities to participate in. A run/walk, silent auction, live music, antique classic car show, parade and mushroom eating championship engage those of all ages. Even celebrities come into town to join in the fun. Returning again this year, Cara Hall, co-host of The Chew and former Top Chef contestant, returns to Kennett Square to share a mushroom recipe and chat about her experiences in general. Two demonstrations are scheduled at noon and 3 pm on Sunday, September 8th.
