In that precious 60 minutes better known as the lunch break to the employed, a quick but satisfying meal is essential. Lunch is that meal that either makes an already dreary workday even drearier or can happily power you through your boss’ post-lunch P&L meeting (been there, done that). Sure, delis and greasy diners are great occasionally, but sometimes you want something a little lighter and tad more upscale.

Sugarfoot

Borne out of the idea that East Coast cooking could benefit from incorporating some of the fresh flavor profiles typically associated with West Coast cuisine, Sugarfoot opened in 1999 and is now the leading catering company in Delaware and remains committed to using garden-fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Sugarfoot

The gourmet catering company has two café outposts in uptown (N. Lincoln St.) and downtown (Orange St.) Wilmington, near Rodney Square, where both breakfast and lunch are served, but you’ll find the small eatery at its busiest when the working crowd storms the place at noon. The downtown hot spot is tucked away on the first floor of the Nemours building right in the heart of the business district and satisfies those who are looking for a different take on lunchtime noshing. Sandwiches like the filet of beef with cheddar almond cheese and fried shallots or the toasted turkey, brie, and champagne mustard are perennial (and personal) favorites as are a pleasing variety of creative and bright salads.

If a lead belly lunch is not your thing, Sugarfoot is a must.
