The Blue Ball Barn was originally constructed in 1914 right here in the nation’s first state. During this industrial driven time period, the durable steel structure served as a dairy barn. The architectural design of this master work is a nod to the days of old. The contemporary charm of the interior cleverly infuses today’s sharp minimalistic approach with yesterday’s take on barnyard buildings. The end result is a stunning venue rich with culture and full of spirit.
The State of Delaware became the sole proprietor of this classic piece of history in 1999 and it has served as an excellent addition to their captivating park ever since. The Blue Ball Barn is the only historical site in the United States that permanently houses artwork year round. The Delaware Folk Art Collection currently boasts more than 120 artistic works from 50 of Delaware’s finest artists. Visitors are welcome to peruse this diverse collection via an interactive touch screen system.
The Blue Ball Barn is surrounded by golf courses, nature trails and foliage. The barn itself was built by the Duponts, arguably one of the most influential families in American history. This stunning venue is just a few minutes away from the Live, Work, Play community.
