Clifford Brown

Clifford Brown was more than just a trumpeter. He was a revolution in jazz music. In his short life, he was able to carve out an identity for himself as a premier jazz trumpeter, the likes of Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie.

And Clifford Brown was a Wilmington, Delaware native.

That’s why every year, downtown Wilmington plays host to the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, a multi-day celebration of the life of Clifford Brown and the enduring value of great jazz music. Don’t miss this year’s 25th annual Jazz Fest, held June 19-June 22 at Rodney Square Park, just steps away from The Residences at Rodney Square!

Jazz musicians come to Wilmington from around the country to perform at the Clifford Brown Jazz Fest, and it is one of the ways that the community comes together to celebrate a great life and fantastic music every year. During the Jazz Festival, a trip downtown is always accompanied by the sounds of by trumpets, trombones and impressive vocals that will make you yearn for the music of the 40’s and 50’s… even if you weren’t alive back then.

Last year’s Jazz Fest drew thousands of visitors, who danced, sang, played along and just enjoyed the wonder of jazz.Clifford Brown Jazz Festival
