NBC 10 conducted a segment the end of last week after the groundbreaking of The Market Street Village stating that ”Wilmington has seen a wave of violent crime, but the news is not all bad from the Delaware city.” Moreover that there are a myriad of people banking on Wilmington’s future including development companies such as The Buccini/Pollin Group and BPGS Construction.

 

The past decade has seen pivotal moments of downtown improvement that have helped shape the Market Street corridor we see today. With more businesses, modern apartment living and numerous entertainment venues, the stage has been set for continued growth. Over the next five years the city’s main goal now is to attract 5,000 new residents and local businesses and residents are jumping on board to help.

 

This is a prodigious movement to bring more positivity and a sense of reenergizing to the city. Bringing 76 new residences within 3 of Wilmington’s downtown historic buildings, the city has opened its doors wide open for young professionals that are seeking a place to work and play in a downtown setting.
