WILMINGTON, DE – Wilmington-based developer The Buccini/Pollin Group, Inc. (BPG), along with BPGS Construction and the Riverfront Development Corporation (RDC) hosted a Topping Out Ceremony on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm. The event was held on site at the Westin Wilmington construction site, located adjacent to The Chase Center on The Riverfront. The event featured the ceremonial signing of the last piece of structural steel by key players, followed by the setting of the steel atop the 10-story new Westin Wilmington structure, marking a major milestone for the development of Wilmington’s Riverfront, and defining the latest addition to the Wilmington skyline.
Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams and City Council President Theo Gregory attended, as well as other local officials. Mayor Williams, David Pollin of The Buccini/Pollin Group and Michael S. Purzycki, RDC Executive Director offered brief speeches at the event marking the hotel construction milestone.
Connected to the 87,000-square-foot Chase Center on the Riverfront, the 10-story LEED certified building—Wilmington’s first full-service hotel in nearly 20 years—will feature 180 elegant guestrooms, indoor pool, RiverRock Kitchen full-service restaurant and bar, lobby lounge, customized meeting space, WestinWORKOUT fitness center and even a law center, among many other amenities. The hotel will be managed by PM Hospitality Strategies, Inc. (PMHS), a BPG affiliate.

The Westin Wilmington will open its doors in Spring 2014 to serve visitors, Wilmington businesses, and the entire community. The Westin Wilmington will employ 123 people, and is projected to generate $3.9 million in state and city tax revenues in its first three years.
