August 15th was the perfect day for a grand opening celebration! Sunny skies and a perfect 72 degrees downtown…not to mention the day is extra fitting as it is India’s Independence Day!

Zaikka

Zaikka Indian Grill opened its first set of doors down in the LOMA District on lower Market Street two years ago. Anu Nagpal and her husband, Sandeep opened the restaurant with the hopes of bringing fresh, healthy, authentic flavors of Indian cuisine to the people of Wilmington. Along with their fast and friendly customer service their first market became quite the hit. With all the success they had in LOMA, they decided to open a second location in the hub of the legal district.

Governor Jack Markell along with many other Zaikka fans attended the ribbon cutting ceremony at 901 North Market Street. The mayor was thrilled with the new location as it is right near his office.

With a set up similar to Chipotle or Qdoba but with Indian food, it is no wonder the restaurant is so successful. You have the option to create your own meal from start to finish, and make it as mild or spicy as you wish. Top your meal off with a mango lassi and you are good to go!
